Divya Desam Number 22 - Thiruthanjai Mamanikoil

On 11th July 2015 evening we visited this Divya Desam, which is actually a set of 3 temples. The deities are

Divyadesam Name

Name of the Residing Deity (Perumal)

The consort of the Residing Deity (Thayar)

Thiruthanjai Mamanikoil

Rakthapankajavalli

Neelamega Perumal

Manikundram

Ambujavalli

Maniparvatha Perumal

Thanjaiyali Nagar

Thanjanayagi

Narasimha Perumal

These temples are located within walk-able distance of each other. The temple is close to Thanjavur town. The deities are is sitting posture. Most Vishnu’s temples have the main deity  in standing or lying posture. There very few and this is one of them. Small premise, but well maintained. The Anjenya (Hanuman) in Narasimha Perumal Temple is considered to important. Among these three Anjenya is installed only in this temple. The main deity is huge and extremely attractive. Overall the visit to this temple was satisfying and blissful. We felt odd and sad that there was no priest at Manikundram Preumal Koil. The temple had only a guard (or watchman). I was told that the priest is shared among the three temple and there is no separate one for this. To know more about this temple you can visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanjai_Mamani_Koil
